Adult dosage
- 20 mg orally three/four times daily

Pediatric dosage
- Aged below 2 years old: 0.4 mg/kg orally every 8-12 hours
- Aged 2-6 years old: 1-3.5 mg/kg/day divided every 6-8 hours orally; not to exceed 10 mg/dose
- Aged 6-9 years old: 10 mg orally three/four times daily
- Aged above 12 years old: 20 mg orally three times daily

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Metaproterenol?
Common side effects of Metaproterenol include:
- nervousness,
- headache,
- dizziness,
- drowsiness,
- nausea,
- diarrhea,
- upset stomach,
- dry mouth,
- tiredness, and
- sleep problem (insomnia)
Serious side effects of Metaproterenol include:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- chest pain,
- fast heart rate,
- pounding heartbeats,
