Nimodipine is a prescription medication used for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage.
What Are Dosages of Nimodipine?
Adult dosage
Gel capsule
- 30 mg
Oral solution (Nymalize)
- 30 mg/10 mL(DSC)
- 60mg/20 mL(DSC)
- 6mg/mL
Adult dosage
- 60 mg orally every 4hrs for 21 days; begin therapy within 96 hours of subarachnoid hemorrhage

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Nimodipine?
Common side effects of Nimodipine include:
- low blood pressure (feeling light-headed),
- nausea,
- upset stomach,
- slow heartbeats, and
- muscle pain
Serious side effects of Nimodipine include:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- lightheadedness,
- fast or slow heart rate, and
- swelling of the ankles or feet
