Bactrim DS is a prescription medicine containing two active ingredients, Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim. It is classified as an antibiotic known as Sulfonamides.

This medicine treats various bacterial diseases such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and certain skin and intestinal infections. 

Additionally, it is used to prevent and treat a specific type of Pneumonia (Pneumocystis Jiroveci). 

This medicine only works for specific types of infection. It is ineffective against viral infections (such as flu).

Bactrim DS Tablet Uses 

Bactrim DS Tablets are prescribed to treat certain infections caused by bacteria and Pneumocystis Jiroveci Pneumonia. 

Bacterial infections: Bactrim DS is an antibiotic helpful for bacterial infections of the lungs, throat, urinary tract, ear, and stomach. It treats infections by inhibiting bacterial growth. 

Pneumocystis Jiroveci Pneumonia (PJP): It is characterized by a sudden onset of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, dry cough with little or no mucus, and chest pain.
