Duolin inhaler (Levosalbutamol 50 mcg and Ipratropium 20 mcg) is a medical formulation in the form of an inhaler. It is manufactured by the India based Cipla Ltd. The active pharmaceutical ingredients which are responsible for the bronchodilation effect are Ipratropium bromide and levosalbutamol sulphate. Levosalbutamol and Ipratropium together result in the relaxation of smooth muscles of the airway and helps to treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Working of the drug

Duolin inhaler consists of Levosalbutamol sulfate and Ipratropium bromide. Levosalbutamol is beta 2 adrenergic agonist which activated the beta 2 adrenergic receptor and lowers the intracellular calcium concentrations which result in the relaxation of smooth muscles whereas Ipratropium, a synthetic quaternary ammonium compound, which is an anticholinergic. Ipratropium bromide blocks the muscarinic receptors which decrease the levels of cGMP and results in the decreased contractility of smooth muscles and thereby helps in treating COPD.
